Hey guys,
As above I have a 2010 Mac Pro with an upgraded W3690 3.46 hex.
What temps are you reading? At the moment we are having a heat wave in the UK and it hit 34 deg C today. The Mac Pro at idle is running in the 52 deg C range and with photosnalysisd running in the background its hitting 63-64. Otherwise it is copying 3TBs of data.
I had a quick look at the spec for the W3690 and it states 67.9deg C is the maximum temperature allowed at the processor Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS).
iStat when showing 48 deg at CPU A Tiode the CPU A (relative to prochot) shows 51 and CPU A heatsink is showing 45 deg.
CPU Tiode seems to be the overall temp it shows.
Is this normal or should it run cooler.
I bought the Mac Pro pre upgraded from a Mac reseller just wonder if the Thermal paste needs reapplying.
The computer doesn't seem to ramp up the fans, so when it is hot like today I set iStat to run the fans at High. This has brought it down to 46-48
Cheers
Tom
