I noticed that my battery only last about 1 1/2 hrs from a full charge. It charges up pretty fast and when it was replaced last about 3 hrs. I replaced the original battery a few years back from an online site called IFIXIT. Is this about right for the lifespan of a replaced battery and if so is it worth ordering another one or is it time to buy a new MacBook with th M2 chip say a MacBook Air. I mentioned the Air as compared to my current 2010 Pro 13 Inch ver it would likely be a huge updated for me and would allow me to use it similar to my current setup. At some point it will die probably better to buy a new one now istead of a new battery? I shows a Service Battery warning when it select it. Thanks for any advise and input.

Sounds right to me. I have a 2009 macbook pro and tbh idk how you are using one from 2010. Any time I have booted it up it takes minutes to do anything. I've now got a 14 inch M1 Pro machine and it's incredible. The time you will save doing anything on any of the M series devices will be worth the upgrade alone.

I also don't think you are still getting any updates for security now? Edit: confirmed you are not. Your device is considered vintage now.

Replacement batteries almost never last as long as do the "factory original" ones.

Ifixit (based on reports I've read here) gets mixed reviews for the quality of their batteries.

3rd-party MBP batteries are really a crapshoot. Hard to tell what you're getting...

I have a 2010 MacBook Pro and have replaced the battery about 4 times. Performance in general gas been worse than the original, but my latest is pretty good. Around 2 hours of use, depending on what I'm doing, though the menu bar estimate often says 3-4 hours using the "Battery Monitor" app. Unfortunately I cannot recall what type it is, but I bought it from Amazon and it identifies as made by "SMP" in System Information.
