2010 MBP and mountain lion

I have a mid-2010 MBP with 2,4Ghz intel core 2 duo and 8gb ram, soon to install a SSD, currently running snow leapord. I was planning to install the ssd at the same time as I install mountain lion and just do a clean install on the new hard drive. Anything I need to know?

Also, do you think my machine will handle the new os just fine? I am getting the ssd to speed up my computer, but it would be a waste if I speed up my computer only to slow it down with mountain lion. What do you think?

You'll be able to run it just fine. Especially with the SSD boot times (both system and apps) will be fantastic. 2.4 ghz C2D is fine. Keep in mind that the airs only run around 1.8 GHz - although they do have a newer IvyBridge architecture. You'll probably get air-like performance, which is pretty good

Mountain Lion is BEAUTIFUL on my stock 2010 13 inch MBPro. I want to upgrade to 8GB RAM though, and maybe a SSD if it doesn't break the bank.

I did a clean install, because when I installed Lion over Snow Leopard, it was.... less than what I hoped. Simple things were very choppy, when it shouldn't have been.

It will work great. With an SSD it is going to feel 10x faster then before.

Only thing you will be missing is AirPlay and PowerNap.

I have the same machine as you, only with 4GB RAM and a standard 256GB hard drive.

Installed the ML GM on my machine last night and it's been a pleasure to use since. I had Lion, which even though I liked, left a lot to be desired. I feel ML has realised Lion's potential. Where there was once lag (eg opening folders in Launchpad) it's now just fluid motions. It certainly feels like Apple really wanted to get this running as well as possible. Only thing that's missing is AirPlay, but I don't have an ATV, so that's not a loss for me. I think notification centre is probably my favourite new feature so far.

I think my boot time has improved too, but I haven't timed it, so can't say for certain. Battery life seems better too
