Hey guys, my wife's previous gen mac mini, the 2.4ghz c2d, seems to freeze every few days. Usually it happens when the screen saver is on.

Are there any diagnostics I can download to run to see what might cause it?

The easiest solution for now would be to disable the screen saver. Have you run a diagnostic test?

You should be able to run the built in diagnostic utility by holding down the "D" as soon as you power it on.

Have you added any RAM to the machine? If you have, you can try reseating it or removing it to eliminate that.

Might have some dust built up inside the fan / heat exchanger by now. May be time to spray come compressed air through it.

I'd suggest doing a disk repair, then checking RAM, especially if RAM was recently upgraded.

thanks I'll try the disk checker. I was thinking maybe it was overheating - it is a little cramped back there, but in monitoring the heat it doesn't seem to be near the level that would shut it down.

The ram I did upgrade, but that was almost a year ago, so I don't think it's that.

Appreciate the replies!
