Hello!

I currently have an 8-core Mac Pro (2010) and a 24" ACD. I am about to sell my ACD and order 3 nice IPS displays, all of which have mini display port connections. My question is can the ATI 5770 run all three monitors at full res? I have done a lot of research through other forums and Apple, but always seem to get mixed answers to this question. My plan was to run one Monitor via straight DVI. Then the other two display port to display port connections (Apple's mini display-->mini display).

EXAMPLE:

Mac Pro: Monitor
DVI (out)----------------------> DVI (in)
Mini Display (out)-------------> Mini Display (in)
Mini Display (out)-------------> Mini Display (in)

Logically, this should work. but I am just not sure, and want to order the parts I need along with the monitors. Do I need to throw in an additional 5770? (I hope not)

All I am looking to do is put all three monitors in full res to add workflow to video, photo, and music production.

Thanks!

I'm running three 23" monitors on a 5870 in my Mac Pro. It's going through DVI, so I have one going straight into DVI and then two active mini displayport to DVI adapters. It's been working great. :)

I have seen this option, and will be last resort- however, I wanted to see if there was a way to avoid the purchase of DVI adapters?!

Assuming you only need single link the adapters are pretty cheap, I'm using 2 of these Accel active adapters to do 3 displays off a 5770 in a 2008.
