Hi guys would this ram work on my 12 core MP 2010?

I have 28GB RAM right now (ECC) but it's running at 1033, not sure if it's worth upgrading just to get 1333 non ECC...

You don't want to mix and match you'd want to buy a whole set. If you want more ram you can get some decent server ram on eBay that is ecc and buffered.

Here is 64gb Set

Or you can get these if you only want 16gb or you on,y have 1 processor, but you can buy two for a total of 32gb (if you have two processors)

FYI... your RAM speed of 1033 or 1333 is tied to the XEON CPU model your Mac Pro is running.

Mine was running at 1033 when it was a W3530 but turned into 1333 mode after I upgraded to a X5680 on my mid 2010 Mac Pro.

^^^^RAM speed is tied to BOTH the RAM speed the CPU supports and the native speed of the RAM being used. Running RAM rated at 1066MHz with a CPU that Supports 1333MHz RAM, will provide RAM speed of only 1066 MHz.

FYI, all 2010 5,1 Mac Pros shipped with RAM rated to run at 1333MHz whether supported by the CPU or not.

I have the x5680 (2x). Current RAM when I bought the 2010MP off a friend has Crucial RAM in it that's for sure 1033Mhz (I googled the part number and it's definitely 1033).

That's actually pretty awesome, thanks for that. $360 for 64GB is not bad at all. I was planning on dumping the current ones, or putting on eBay. There is also a stock 2x2GB Apple RAM in there too.
