For the past 2 months, my 27" 2011 iMac repeatedly either has problems getting connected to the internet or maintaining an internet connection. On more occasions than I can count, often multiple times per day, my iMac will disconnect from the internet without warning, or have trouble establishing a connection when booting up or waking from sleep.
This problem is present both over both Wi-Fi and an Ethernet connection, AND is present both when running the latest version of El Capitan and Windows 7 through Bootcamp. In fact, SOMETIMES switching from Ethernet to Wi-Fi or vise versa will reestablish my internet connection, either completely or for 1-2 minutes before the connection is lost again.
It's worth noting that these issues only started appearing after I moved from Washington to New York, which would suggest an issue with the new modem and ISP at my new residence. HOWEVER, these issues have gone on with my iMac while my 2010 iPod Touch, 2009 Macbook, and Kyocera Hydro View smartphone have all experienced no problems at all connecting to the internet in the same home. Combined with the fact that I've experienced these issues on both operating systems installed on my iMac, I am starting to wonder if something might be wrong with the modem inside my admittedly old iMac ...
So are there any known connectivity issues with this particular make and model? Or could my issue be linked to something else?
Thanks.
