hi all

can anyone here help me knowing the imac 256gb ssd manufacturer and writing speed ? and wether its mlc or slc ?

and i also heard that ssd drives are notorious for their low writing speed , so what are writing speed good for normal users ?

thanks

No one knows, because 2011 iMacs with SSDs have large delays currently. The online Apple Store stated a 4 to 6 week shipping time on the 27" units, and figures are still on the pessimistic side of that timeframe and are still to be reduced for new orders.

Historically, Apple has used Toshiba, and now Samsung, SSDs. Apple also writes their own firmware for the SSDs they use.

The mSATA SSDs in the MacBook Airs are a considerable improvement over the previous iteration, though based on teardowns of the 21.5" 2011 the assumption is the SSD will be a 2.5" form factor component. Also keep in mind that the point of SSDs is NOT sustained transfer rate, it's minimizing seek latency to maximize IOPS.
