Hi,

I have been looking into adding my pc screen to my iMac, but on the photos of the back of the new iMac there does not seem to be a mini DVI port now, only the thunderbird ports. Is that correct and if so can anyone give me a reccomendation of a cable to go to my VGA screen?

Thanks in advance
Lee

You need a MiniDisplayPort to VGA adapter (sold by Apple and probably by a number of third-party vendors by now).

Yep, what Leman said. I have THIS generic one from Amazon. Not Apple brand, but it works fine. If you'd prefer the Apple brand one, HERE is the link.

If you have a DVI port on your monitor, the quality would be much better if you got a miniDisplayPort to DVI adapter instead.

According to an earlier post, you need a thunderbolt enabled device to connect a 2 monitor to your new imac.

Or did i miss something

You totally missed something. That post is the other way around. From external source to iMac.

I know its hard to fathom, but these answers actually *are* on the Apple web site: http://www.apple.com/thunderbolt/

Sry my bad, you are right, its the other way around thats the problem.

as stated on the apples site.:

"And because Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, the video standard for high-resolution displays, any Mini DisplayPort display plugs right into the Thunderbolt port. To connect a DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, or VGA display, just use an existing adapter."

sorry for the confusion :)
