Having read the "Apple Restricts Hard Drive Replacements on New iMacs" I want to know whether the internal fan running at full speed and it failing the Apple Hardware Test (AHT) will prevent the machine from booting.

I see myself cracking open the iMac to add a larger HDD & SSD once the warranty laps.

I would ask in the other thread but with 500+ posts I rather not dig through it all to get an answer that may be tainted.

Unfortunately the OWC report propagated by several news channels is just wrong. Several people, me included, have successfully proven that it is possible to add an SSD or to replace / upgrade the apple's HDD.

This thread has only 66 posts so maybe it will be easier to read.
