2011 Imac setting for backlit keyboard

I was connecting my keyboard to my new 2011 iMac and noticed a setting for illuminating the keyboard in low light.

Obviously this isn't available at the moment so does this mean that backlit keyboards are coming soon?

I was hoping backlit keyboards would be introduced and included with the new iMac. But that didn't happen

But I think the 'Keyboard illumination' option you found is a component of Mac OS X and configured for the Macbook Pros

This is correct. That setting has always been there for the Macbook pros. That's not to say a backlit keyboard will never come out. It's certainly a possibility, but you never know with Apple.
