Hi guys I just wanted to do my predictions for the next iMac based on what I know and what I read .

27'' Low End

Processor : i5 Quad-Core 3.1GHz (2400 sandy bridge)
Screen : 2560-by-1440 resolution
Hard drive : 1 TB
Graphics : ATI Radeaon 6650 with 512 mb
RAM : 4GB
Others : Thunderbolt, HD FaceTime camera

27'' High End

Processor : i5 Quad-Core 3.3GHz (2500 Sandy Bridge)
Processor : BTO i7 Quad-Core 3.4 (2600 Sandy Bridge)
Screen : 2560-by-1440 resolution
Hard drive : 2 TB
Graphics : ATI Radeaon 6850 with 1 GB (6950 BTO ?)
RAM : 8GB
Others : Thunderbolt (x2?) , HD FaceTime camera

I'm not doing the 21.5 because this model don't matter to me very much.

If your predictions for the BTO iMac are true, it justifies me waiting soooo long for this refresh. I simply cannot wait for the new Imac!

With the new Macbook pro's apple seems to have stepped up their game in the graphics department so I feel like they are going to do the same with the iMac's we will see !

Umm I think the hi-end iMac 27" is going to use intel i7 Sandy Bridge as standard, not BTO

And also GPU will be equipped with Radeon HD 6850 1Gb as standard

Other than that, I think your prediction is okay
But that's only IMO

The CPUs will be normal, not K versions. K versions have unlocked multiplier but you can't OC a Mac so it's pointless. i7-2600 is as fast as the K version of it.

AMD 6850M is just renamed AMD 5850M. AMD also changed the naming system so the successor of 5850M is 6950M, thus high-end iMac will most likely utilize that instead.

6850 could do but it should really be, at least, the 6970 to keep the iMac somewhat in line with current mid range desktops.

Your prediction link is awesome .. if only Apple using your spec 100% for 2011 iMac i'd go to Apple Store as if i'm going to buy iPad 2 on release date .. ROCK ON iMac !!

Your prediction seems very accurate, however (like told above) they won't use the K-versions for the CPU's.

x2 Thunderbolt isn't going to happen either, since you can daisy-chain up to 6 devices and (most important) then they need to change the iMac's enclosure. They probably won't do that since they used the mini-displayport form for Thunderbolt so Apple didn't needed to change the enclosure for the Macbook Pro.

I do hope the AMD Radeon 6950m will be available for the iMac, no mather if it's standard or BTO, I just want it! 9670m would be even better, but it's Apple we're talking about...

The only place i've seen apple put ATI radeaon *870/*970 cards are in the Mac pro. They usually use ATI **50 cards . But we can hope !

I was thinking of the 6970M and that has no place in a Mac Pro. In an iMac, however, it would be very fitting

6970m seems to have a high tdp. Apple probably won't use it in the iMac for tdp reasons and expense reasons. Makes more sense for them to use the lower clocked 6950m. 6950m provides all the same specs, but is lower clocked.

If they use the 6950m they will probably market it as a 6850 desktop like they did with the 5750 in the current iMac wich in reality is a 5850m .
