Hey Guys..
Ok So I have the 5.1 Mac Mini Mid 2011, And it's time again to replace the HDD's. Only this time I'll be adding one SSD or Hybrid and a HDD.

My Question is related to the Hard Drive Space / sizes.
I would ideally like to put a 2TB for the Storage drive and a 120GB SSD as the main Drive, OR an 1TB SSDHD Hybrid Drive in adding up to 3TB or below.

So what are the MAX sizes of Hard drive that anyone can put in this, i remember seeing someplace it's 9.5MM but I'm not sure.

Would i get a 2TB and a 1TB in, or would you think I'd just Manage to get a 2TB and a 12GB SSD in or 1TB and a 1TB SSDHD? :apple:

I'm looking for Max Storage with Max / Speed or acceptable Speed to put n
in to this Mac min, It's going to be the Last Upgrade for this machine now I i need the space to last some time, Because the next upgrade would logically be a New System all together.

So what are your Views and experiences Please for adding Max Storage n Space or your Recommendations based on :apple: Specs of internal space ?

Thanks people
Regards
Gary :)

Samsung makes a 9.5mm 2 TB drive. That's the route to go - no worries.

Yes I see that, However the only Issue i have is it's a Seagate, there having very high fail rates at the moment and even before the fails, a lot of people on Overclockers Forum are complaining about clicking sounds and whirring sounds coming from there drives. All have been Seagate sadly.

Thanks for your time and reply,
Regards

No, it's a Samsung drive. Seagate bought Samsung's hard drive business but the manufacturing is still with Samsung engineering and QC. I only buy Hitachi (owned by WD) and Samsung drives (and would consider Toshiba). I'll never buy another WD or Seagate drive.

Ah ok I get what your saying. Thanks for clearing that up.
So I take it you've also had issues with Seagate & WD Drives then ?

I know WD are supposed to be some of the best, However it seems there to have had a big fail rate of late, My WD 1TB Black from one week in did nothing but clunk & click lol, A Shame really!

I've never heard of that Site before, but I've made an account and after i do some research I'll decide what to do, Unless anyone else comes up with any more useful info.

Thanks again Cave-Man

I've had problems with both Seagate and WD on several drives. WD's biggest problem is their return policy. I had a drive start acting up 11 months after I bought it and their tech services had me reinitialize the drive. It worked fine for another 2 months then failed completely. Guess what? It was 1 month beyond their 1 year warranty so they refused to replace it. WD won't get another penny of mine.

Other World Computing is one of the best Mac hardware places. I just bought a 980 GB SSD and 2x eSATA PCI card for my Mac Pro from them.
