Folks,

I've currently got a 2006 Intel Mini, but am considering upgrading to the latest 2011 variant.

I use my current Mini as a Media Server connected to my HD TV via DVI, but sound is played via an amp and separate speakers.

Anyone know if the latest 2011 version plays audio via HDMI ?

Thanks

By default it'd play audio via HDMI, but you should be able to change this under System Preferences > Sound > Output to use your amp if you prefer.

Folks,

Thanks for the responses, I wasn't aware that this was available on the 2010 Mini! Darn it.

AMP - no actually I'd rather have sound coming from the TV as usually watch movies when my little on is in bed.. My AMP speakers are well known for waking him up!

Mark.

Yeah I use mine as a media server and it's great. If the server is all you'll use it for, the 2010 would serve you fine :). You can probably get a refurb on the cheap, too.
