in terms of speed and performance, who wins?

If you are talking about the CPU:
the new 2.3Ghz core i5 2.3Ghz is already marginally faster than the 2010 core i7 2.66Ghz in the MBP, so any dual core model will be a bit faster.

Of course the quad core 2.0Ghz in the server mac mini is way faster than the 2010 MBP.

For GPU:
Low end mac mini or Mac mini server with Intel HD3000 should be only about 50-60% the speed of the Nvidia 330M.

The mid-range mac mini with the Radeon 6630M should actually be a bit quicker than the 330M.

Overall, I'm quite surprised (in a good way) about the new mac mini models.

the 2011 mac min definitely wins! it was reported that the 2011 macbook air (with ULV chips) compare with last year's top of the line 17"MBP, so of course a normal voltage processor would beat it. even the 2.3GHZ i5.
