Do I even bother trying to figure this upgrade out?

  • Don't bother. It's not worth the trouble. Why haven't you bought a newer mac? lol

Hello. I am looking into upgrading my bluetooth for my 2011 MBP to bluetooth 4.0. I saw this thread and it's pretty dated. With over 1300 comments it's hard to find out the important/updated info without looking through all of them. The latest response was january of this year saying he got it to work, but doesn't give any detail on how he got it to work.

I already have located the chip, but before I buy it, I want to ask if there is anyone on here that has recently done this upgrade. I realize that the Continuity Activation Tool hasn't been updated for two years now.

Once I install the card, there are patches I need to run, ie. CAT, but is there anything special I need to know about before trying to do this? I'm running on macOS high sierra 10.13.6. Will this even work? It would be really nice to be able to airdrop correctly and use my AirPods better.

Thank you for the help and advice. I appreciate it.
