Hi guys/gals,

I'm looking for some advice on an issue with my (slightly elderly) macbook.

The issue is to do with power supply. The laptop runs perfectly while plugged in, but the second I disconnect the charger it shuts off immediately. As far as I can tell it is not a problem with the battery charging, as occasionally when I disconnect it the laptop stays alive, until I try to move it, when it then shorts out and dies immediately.

I think it's an issue with some connection between the battery and the CPU? Would anyone be able to shed any light on this for me? As it's out of warranty it is quite expensive for me to even get it opened up and checked out.

It's otherwise running well, so I would like to fix it if it's not too pricey.

Thanks for the help!

Have you cleaned out the battery port?

Try and SMC reset. How old is the battery and what are the stats on it?
