Hello all, long time reader first time poster.
Purchased a new MBA ultimate in March - since then I've noticed with increased frequency that upon waking it up from sleep the cursor is frozen for around 5 seconds, I occasionally get beachballs upon waking it up, and occassionally get beachballs when starting safari and attempting to enter a url. Any ideas? I don't do anything outside of browsing and watching the occasional video on VLC - I don't download anything on it either. The only action the harddrive has seen is mac updates, and microsoft word.

Unsure but try these steps.

Copy and paste these commands into console under admin.

sudo chown root:admin /
sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
sudo kextcache -system-caches

Then restart, and if that doesn't work do a safe boot, log in, then restart.

LMK!

My suggestion would be restart the machine every few days. I notice my MBA slows down after not restarting 3-4 days later. The reboot really helps.
