I have a 2011 MBP 17 inch (Late 2011) running Mac High Seirra 10.13.6. When ever I launch a program that uses video (Ring, Synology Surveillance Station, etc) my MBP hangs for a minute or so, then crashes.
Once it reboots, at the log in screen on my monitor I have vertical pink stripes covering my log in screen.
I done the NVRAM reset and it will toggle between the pink vertical stripes and light blue vertical stripes, after the 3 or 4th reset it will finally boot normally and allow a full log in and normal operation. Until I launch another program such a Ring or one that requires video (at least so far, it seems to be the only common denominator)

I have re-installed the OS with no resolution. Any ideas?

Do you know what "RadeonGate" is?
If not, better start reading up on it.

Read t his thread: If your problem is indeed the graphic chip failing, here is a good working solution.
