has anyone got a list of which ones work?

was thinking of getting an A1294 off ebay to turn my mini into a plex player

any apple infra remote will work with the mm2011. I have the white plastic remote and the unibody aluminium remote which works fine.

Before I disabled it, because I never need/use it, any Apple remote I found works with it.

I guess if I ever replace this one and this becomes hooked up to our TV, it'll be necessary to enable it again.

Wikipedia says, that the even the early iMac G3s had infra red. I wonder, if a remote would work with it, too (given you get to install frontrow).

Long ago I had a 800 MHz eMac. Connected via target disk mode to a faster machine and installed OS I think Tiger it was (there was a MHz specs this did not meet to install)

I got front row on it somehow and irda header from a MacBook connected to USB.

I outlined that via VGA to RCA and onto the big screen.

Used the white plastic remote.

so i got a 1294 off ebay and I just cant get it too work with my mac mini, I have made sure the IR port is on and changed the batteries, it just wont work.

if any of you have a 2nd gen remote can you tell me if it lights up the led if you hold a button, as mine does not

Try looking at the IR LED through a live view on a digital camera (although my iPhone doesn't show it) while pressing the remote button. You should be able to see the IR light up on the camera display screen if the remote is actually working.

thanks you are right, and it was working so i opened up my mini and some of the wires to the IR cable were not seated tight.
