iPod 2011 MINI Cooper and iPod problems. Any help?

I have the iPod/Bluetooth option in my 2011 Cooper. The system will just stop playing music and the track selector will freeze. It will then go to the FM radio by itself. When I go to reselect the iPod, it is not an option to select. I have to unplug the iPod, restart it, then plug back in. My iPhone never does this. The iPod is a 5th generation classic 60gb. It's driving me crazy! Anyone know how to fix this??
