I can buy used a 2.6 quad with
16 GB ram
1 TB Fusion drive
Apple wireless keyboard
Apple trackpad
They are asking $1500 but said will go as low as $1200. Is that too much?

That's a ridiculous price and I still don't understand why people are willing to pay >$400 for a dual core (I know this is a quad). This is 2014 and approaching 2015.

OP. $1200 is what it's worth. Buy it.

I agree. I just picked up a 2.3 quad for $749, bought a ssd, 16 gigs of ram, new logitech wireless keyboard and magic mouse and I'm spending $1200 all in with the owc kit and I have to do the labor! $1200 is worth it, especially because of the better proc. Buy it.

You can buy a used 27 iMac 2012 with greater specs for the same price. So this is a horrible deal.

yeah, there's a reason people who have been around a while know to avoid the iMac's... I've had too many iMac paperweights... And, as paperweights, they are a bit more than you really need, rocks take up less space.

Got that. The most reliable Macs in the family have been the four minis. The most unreliable is the one iMac.

Never had any issues here with iMacs. 1x 20" 2006 Intel iMac, 1x 24" 2007 iMac, 2x 21.5" 2011 iMacs.

Count yourself among the fortunate. I've had too many that had known manufacturing defects that apple wouldn't fix until a class action suit which came long after I threw that trash out.

Problem with iMacs is that small things dying take out the whole machine including the screen due to extreme replacement costs of proprietary iMac components.

Almost everything that goes wrong requires either a whole new logic board or a display. Both of which cost nearly $1000 out of pocket. And one going kills the usefulness of the other.
