Hello,

I have a 2012 i7 2.6 hooked up to a 55 inch TV. Today I started running the screensaver just to display some “ambiance”. Running the screensaver makes the Mini fans really rev up - loudly. It seems more than when playing a movie from iTunes for example. Also the transitions between screensaver images (ken burns one) is sorta of laggy at times. All of this seems weird for a quad core with an ssd to me.

Otherwise the Mini seems to run fine, gets warm to the touch but nothing unusual. Is it strange that such a basic task like screensaver is causing the fans to go crazy?

No matter how much you want it to, the computer is not going to honor your definition of a "basic task". Manipulating graphics is very computationally intensive. That is stutters a bit sometimes is evidence of that.
