I have a 2012 iMac, 3.4GHz i7, 24gb RAM and 3TB Fusion drive.
Up until 6-9 months ago I was working fine, fusion drive was showing 1.4TB used out of 3TB. Machine started to beach ball a lot and I did a Time Machine restore and that seemed to help for a while. The last restore I did a couple of weeks ago I noticed my time machine backups were failing as well as my CarbonCopyCloner and Fusion were failing. I run a Windows VM and switched to Parallels after Fusion stopped working. I had done a restore of Catalina and use migration assistant to restore my data. I am now seeing duplicates of my Macintosh HD, TimeMachine and my CCC 6TB drives at time, mainly after I reboot. If I go into Finder and select more info on the Macintosh HD drive it shows it's only 1.3TB in size.

Just trying to figure out where I screwed up on the last restore. I know it's 12 years old but I am not too happy with the choices that Apple is offering but in the mean time I want to limp along until I can decide on an upgrade. I am hoping Apple puts out some updates after the new year. If nothing changes I am leaning towards the Mac Studio with M1 Max with 10-core CPU, 32-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 64GB unified memory and 2TB SSD.

Looking forward to any suggestions that are offered.
Thanks
