I have a late 2012 iMac, (upgraded to 32 GB Memory) and Geforce GTX 680MX

I do a fair bit of After Effects and 4K video editing work. If I upgrade to an entry-level iMac Pro (3.2GHz 8-core, 32GB Ram, Pro Vega 56) would I notice a substantial performance increase?

Thanks.

Of course you should see a difference. Depending on the configuration you have the base iMac Pro is 3-4x faster in CPU performance and much more in GPU/storage performance.

Yeah if you don't use CUDA tools, you're going to be blown away by the iMac Pro. It is a beast of a machine, and my favorite computer of all time (for now).

Is CUDA in AE still a thing? I thought the old CUDA is dead and now superseded by C4D renderer.

Base iMac Pro with the upgraded GPU would be my ideal system.
I just cant justify the cost though...….not for my limited workflow......but Im mighty tempted!
