Hi

I have upgrade my 2012 late iMac with M2 SSD, sata ssd, handoff, display recently.

When I put logic back and move the position of left speaker, then the power button cable was cut off.

All the answer on web is buy the new housing case, or send it to apple store if possible.

Just want to share how I repair the cable here.

To remove power button, you have to use some very small minuss screwdriver or a blade to get under the edge of the button and peel it off the adhesive slolvy or cut the adhesive gently.

I start with a blade to cut the upper part away from the case and then use screwdrver to peel off the rest as it is not possible to get the blade all around the button. To put it back, you will have to use some strong double sided tape.

And then easy work is open the case and try to fix the wire... The wire looks like no positive and negative pole, so only things you need to do is welding the wire and put it back.

Ebay also sell the power button unit with cable, so you can get it approx $30/pcs . See pics for more reference.
