I've been having trouble with graphics glitches on my headless 2012 Mac Mini (base model upgraded to 6 GB RAM) running Mavericks 10.9.5 when it starts up in 3840x2160 (4K). When I change to a resolution lower than 4K and restart, it returns to normal and stays that way even after changing the resolution back to 4K.

Edit: Using an HDMI display emulator to achieve these resolutions.

Does anyone know what is going on here?

What kind of emulator are you using to achieve 4k headless? Is it taking 1080p and converting it upwards? I may be wrong; however, I believe you can only get what you started with.

It's simply a dongle that plugs into the HDMI port to emulate a connected display with supported resolutions up to 4K.

fit Headless 4K, I believe it is the only one on the market.

Thanks...I am running my 2012 Mini headless as well via an emulator; however, I still have the emulator hooked up to a HDMI switch to a 1080p projector. That way I always get 1080p when I share screen with the MacBook Pro.

So, in your case, I don't know whether you need a 4k TV to switch back and forth even though the TV is off. Sometimes being first on the market doesn't mean a great mouse strap.
