On the 2012 Mac Mini did Apple install a single SSD or HDD in the easy to reach location (near the ram) or the hard to reach one (under logic board, requires full disassembly to reach)?

Wasn’t sure if there was a “standard” for that. Asking as I have a Mac Mini coming that I plan to upgrade and am curious to know before I start (as one is much easier to get to than the other). Thanks

I purchased two 2012 minis just a month or two before the present 2014 models were released. Both were new, standard configuration. One had hard drive in the upper slot, and the other shipped with HDD in the lower slot.

As a follow up the Apple 256ssd is in the Lower Slot. So if I decide to leave it in there and just add a new one that would mean I just add the new drive to the “upper” slot, which is free. So long as I buy the appropriate kit for it.
