Hello,

I just purchased a 2012 Mac Mini Server from the Apple Refurbished Store.

My question is, do I have to purchase anything else to be able to swap out the hard drivers for an SSD or higher capacity? I found lots of information regarding the standard Mac Minis, but not the Server Edition.

Thank you in advance.

2012 Mac Mini OSX Server Dual Hard Drive Question

Nope. Goes right in. A tool kit with the right torx drivers maybe.

I'm in the same boat. From what I've gathered the drive on top when you open the Mini up is the boot drive (the lower drive when the machine is right side up). Is it just a matter of sliding this drive out? Can it be maneuvered free and out without having to move the logic board?

I just have one drive right now but it's the top(bottom when upside down). I don't think you can get it out without pulling the logic board. It's easy though so I'd feel more comfortable with it out of the way than trying to squeeze it out.

Honestly, it takes about 20 minutes to pull it all apart and install an SSD into the lower bay. You don't even need to remove the other drive.
