I'm trying to figure this out and scratching my head. Basically I am looking to purchase a new mini to replace my old dying MacPro. What I'm trying to figure out is if I can use my 2 non thunderbolt 27" ACD's with it. These ACD's have the mini display port but was wondering how I can run a dual monitor setup on the mini since it only has one MD and one HDMI. Right now on my MacPro I have one plugged in the mini display port input and use a DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter AT-DP400 to connected to the DVI input on the second vid card. I assume I can do a similar setup in the Mini? I read somewhere though there is a limitation of 1900 x 1200 on the HDMI port? No way to get the HDMI port to push 2560x1440 to match the resolution of the ACD on plugged into the mini display/TB port???

You are correct, the HDMI port is limited to 1920x1200. I have not seen a way to work around that limitation. There are products like http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-...1381126873&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+to+displayport which you can try, but I don't have any experience with them so I can't comment on how well they work.

If you can wait a little while, I'd see what the 2013 mini's will come equipped with. There might be a chance that Apple kills the last of the FW800 ports and replaces them with something else, possibly another thunderbolt port. Right now, the Thunderbolt port on the mini is the only output capable of 2560x1440/1600 unless you get some adapter like the one I linked to above.
