2012 Mac mini wont internally boot to SSD.
Equipment:
2012 Mac mini with 4gB memory and 512 gB HD - Mountain Lion installed
SanDisk Ultra Plus SSD 256 GB SATA 6.0 Gbps 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SDSSDHP-256G-G25 with latest firmware
Bought the mini and used it as is for a month.
Bought the SSD, connected it via USB and cloned (Superduper) Mountain Lion from the HD.
Used the external SSD as the boot drive for a month.
Installed the SSD internally and used it for a month.
Downloaded the released Marvericks and attempted an install to the SSD. Failed with disk errors.
Tried various installs after Disk Utilities repair disk. Unsuccessful installs with write errors at various depths into transfer.
Erased the SSD with Disk Utilities.
Installed Mavericks to a jump drive. Boots fine.
Cloned (Superdrive) Mavericks jump drive to the SSD. completes cloning. Get the circle slash at boot and eventually it boots to the internal HD Mountain Lion.
Cloned (Mac Restore) Mavericks jump drive to the SSD. completes cloning. Get the circle slash at boot and eventually it boots to the internal HD Mountain Lion.
Cloned (Carbon Copy) Mavericks jump drive to the SSD. completes cloning. Get the circle slash at boot and eventually it boots to the internal HD Mountain Lion.
Cloned (Superdrive) Mouintain Lion HD to the SSD. completes cloning. Get the circle slash at boot and eventually it boots to the internal HD Mountain Lion.
Cloned (Restore) Mouintain Lion HD to the SSD. completes cloning. Get the circle slash at boot and eventually it boots to the internal HD Mountain Lion.
Cloned (Cabon Copy) Mouintain Lion HD to the SSD. completes cloning. Get the circle slash at boot and eventually it boots to the internal HD Mountain Lion.
I am convinced that cloning to the SSD can be done as long as the SSD is external as I did in step 2. Not real anxious to remove the SSD to update the OS each time there is a new release.
Any help would be appreciated.
