Hey all,

I recently purchased a 2012 3.33 Hex Core Mac Pro.

I know that the newer pros ship with three sticks of ram, but would I see a larger benefit with a matching set of three sticks of 24, or four sticks of 32?

Thanks!

Even if you don't use the extra 8GB, the bandwidth and latency gains from just having 3 are minimal in real world performance. Get the capacity you want/need.

Thanks guys,

I'll think I'll be just fine with 32 for several years. ;)

I went with 24.

My thoughts weren't much about the tiny speed improvement, but simply that my 2009 Mac Pro is doing fine with 24, so I don't believe I have much real need to get 32 in the 2012 machine right now "today".

In addition, if I do find that I need more RAM, the risk of its price going up is low, so it will more likely be cheaper if I wait 6-24 months.
