how to run hardware test on 2012 mac pro ?

OSX 10.10.4
System turns on and works, then suddenly cuts off power.
This is unpredictable, sometime minutes after boot, sometime even during the boot process.

First, seems the power supply is failing - resulting in such behavior.
OR more serious problem with mother board.

is there a hardware test for this this? how to run it? tried to press "D" on boot - just booted into system.

Did you follow the instruction to download and put the correct AHT files into the right place?

If you have the original DVD, then you can launch AHT from it.

If you only upgrade the OSX and never ever do a clean upgrade, then the AHT should be still there.

If you did a clean install (but not from the disk), then the AHT will gone, and you have to manually install the file back to the place.

And for your info. If you do it via finder, you need to show the hidden files, otherwise you can't see it and can't copy it back to the right path.
