So I just updated my MacBook because my 2012 model is super slow and the battery is dying again.
I just can't get over the fact that it doesn't have ANY ports to plug in anything.
I'm very tempted to just wipe the laptop and attempt to reinstall the system to see if that helps speed things up, but I'm also aware I'm limited in the update.

What I'm asking for is a: what accessories can I buy to be able to plug my screens, keyboard, mouse etc into the new laptop
b. how can i "save" my 2012 MacBook.

Maybe this is a good opportunity to update your tech if you're still plugging in a USB-A mouse and keyboard in 2022.

Get a USB-C external monitor. One cable from the laptop to the monitor and you get power to the laptop, video out to the monitor and a port hub for your USB-A devices. Example is the Dell U2723QE.

If you want multiple external displays - the 2020 MBP only supports 1 external. You could go the DisplayLink approach but you should get an M1 Pro MacBook Pro if you want 2 external displays.

I already have a display link, and I got a m2 2022 MBP!

I'm all about having a wireless mouse, but my wireless keyboard is the most item I've ever had. The only reason I don't leave it plugged in is because I usually need the cable for something else...
