2012 Mini refurbs at the Apple Store

They will be gone in probably 30 minutes.
The server is a nice score at $849. The base can be had new for cheap with the Best Buy Mover's deal.
Maybe Apple should consider how fast these 2012 minis have been selling out, and maybe reflect on what they did to the 2014 mini.
Apple knows what they did to the mini, they're just expecting all the mindless drones who can't use the new mini to buy an iMac instead.
Interesting, I have checked the refurb store for the past week, found nothing.
Bought an open box, from best buy for a little over 400.00 just got it yesterday, works great.

I purchased the mac mini server refurb at the online apple store last week. The spec I had picked out was the 2.3/8GB/2 x 1TB drives version.
Finally had some time today to install Ubuntu 14.04, to be used a nice low power home server. I was surprised to find out that the mini came with 16 GB of memory. I was planning on maxing out the memory to 16 GB, but looks like I don't have to.
Anyone here had "upgraded" configurations?

Yes. In fact out of the three reburbs my family has purchased two (MBP, iMac) were standard models and might have sat frying in their own juices at an Apple Store before being washed off (reburbished) and sold. They were pure crap suffering an OD failure, a power supply failure, two HDD failures and one screen failure.
The third refurb was a late 2009 mini 2.66. Being a CTO it had to have been ordered and returned fairly rapidly since I bought it in late 2009. Not only did it have the fastest mini C2D it also had a 500GB HDD even though it was advertised as having the standard 320GB unit. 500GB was a big deal back then!
The late 2009 mini was absolutely perfect. I ripped it apart a number of times. It went from an OEM 500GB HDD to a WD 500GB to a WD 750GB Caviar Black and back to the OEM at the end. RAM went from 4GB to 6GB and finally to 8GB. Again the thing never missed a beat. Rule of thumb? Buy a CTO refurb.
