hi all,
I have a 2013 iMac with a 3tb fusion drive
The hdd needs to be replaced
I don’t really feel like dealing with replacing the adhesive to do the replacement myself. And I’m not going to upgrade to a 2 or 3 tb ssd currently due to price.
I made a Genius Bar appointment
For those who’ve had this done at an Apple store
1. How much did the repair cost?
2. How long did the repair take?
3. Is it back to a fusion drive after you get it back?

Thanks

My memory's not what it used to be, but wasn't there a recall on 2013 iMacs with the 3tb fusion drive due to a bad run of Seagate 3tb HDD's?
You should ask at the genius bar when you bring it in.

For a time, they were replacing the bad 3tb HDD's "for free".
That program may not be in effect any longer.
But still... won't hurt to ask.

Thanks. Looks like there was one. Though mine is a late 2013 and doesn’t appear to be included

Yup. It more than I want to put into a 2013 iMac. I even started to look at refurbished iMac Pros... but.....I'll just get this replaced. Any idea if this is a 'while-you-wait' Apple Store repair?

Definitely, not.

While the whole process doesn't take very long (<1 hr), Apple will have quite a few repairs ahead of yours.

If you need it back quickly, you probably need to go to an AASP.
