Hey,

we have two 2013 Mac pro, which I am trying to upgrades to Monterey.

When I try the normal installer (from settings) it starts as expected, and reboots after a while - but without upgrading.

when trying to do the install from a usb stick, it reaches a point where it fails with “unable to verify the firmware…”

the same thing happens on both machines

I initially thought that it was due to the Samsung 970 ssd pro I am using, so I tried with the original ssds as well - same thing.

any thoughts?

Does it have all the Big Sur updates? I am running it on an 980 Pro.

a bit of progress - I got beta 6 installed!
but it won't upgrade to beta 9... same as before, it goes all the way to the reboot, and then no change

The firmware will not update with the AngelShark Carrier Board™ installed. This is a known issue. You need to have the Apple SSD or NVMe SSD with a simple adapter installed only.
