Hi, I bought a used 2013 Mac Pro...4 core D300 variant with 64 GB RAM with 512 GB SSD. I partitioned WIN10 on it and it has been glitching or on boot up it has been displaying acid-colors (as I call them). I did SMC reset and PRAM reset and even tried all the thunderbolt ports (monitor running at 144hz on display port cable to thunderbolt/mini-display).

GPU issues? However, it doesn't seem to be doing this on the Mac side (Big Sur 11.2.3). I took videos of it and took pics from that video. I am still within return period. Although I like this Mac Pro and it is perfect for my meager needs, I may have to return it.

Any ideas as to why this only happens when booting into Windows?

Update: I tried HDMI port at 120hz, still same artifacts on screen when booting into windows...on Mac side, no issue.

primary input is display to mini display cable no adapters.

Just a guess but I wonder if one of the GPUs has failed, and Windows is defaulting to use the dud one for display, while macOS is defaulting to use the good one for display. Maybe you could find a program that uses or tests the other GPU under macOS.

Have you used the Mac Pro much under Big Sur? There were reports that if you had a Windows NTFS partition on the same drive as your APFS formatted SSD you get random kernel panics. Haven’t been able to have anyone verify if this is still an issue.

I didn’t think of that...I tried in High Sierra through Big Sur, all the same results. As well I got freezes and a few kernel panics. It was definitely the video card. I returned to seller as it was not as described on eBay (claimed worked as new), so back to finding a new desktop.
