So we know HTC has a 1080P device in Japan and soon to be on Verizon, but now LG and Samsung have announced they will also have a 1080P device in 2013. This was bound to happen. These devices will have over 400PPI which completely annihilates LG's "Retina" display. You gotta love competition.

I don't think the beautiful screen would be enough to forget about the big battery drains and GPU struggle. Ultimately we'll have thicker phones or worser longevity.

This is awesome but the question is will we be able to tell the difference over a 720P display?

I gotta go with this. I rather have 720p with decent battery and smoothness. Not to mention they can upgrade the pentile displays to rgb on some models.

This is gonna be unbelievable. I know, The Verge couldn't stop raving about the 1080P screen on the HTC. I've got an S3 but won't upgrade till the S5. At which point I'll be jumping over to Windows Phone 10, so I'm hoping that would be the Ativ S3? But by then who knows what the landscape will look like. But seeing mobile tech move this quick is all the more reason why we should never want only one company dominating the industry. Hopefully they start making much bigger improvements in batteries.
