Hey guys,

So I remember when the Thunderbolt port was being introduced a few years ago that there was a lot of hype for modular computer setups, particularly video cards. However, it wasn't long before all the talk died off. But it has me wondering:

If I wanted to get a Mac mini for its small form factor, but I also wanted the option of light gaming (Heroes of the Storm), would it be possible to attach a video card with a Thunderbolt enclosure?

Thanks.

Yes, you could. It wouldn't be cheap though, you could only use certain cards, and you'd be limiting yourself with TB2 of course.

I have an eGPU running on my 2014 mini. Of course there is a bottleneck but it beats the pants off the integrated solution. It cost me about $500 to build. Very happy with it so far.

Dang. 500 USD? Mind sharing what you did and what you use it for?

Thanks.
