2014 Mac Mini - Replace Airport with SSD?

So I was looking on iFixit's guide and it looks like the Airport card is now a standardised PCI interface. You can naturally get PCI-e SSDs so I was wondering if you can buy the base Mac Mini and chuck an SSD instead of the Airport card, then set up a Fusion drive from there.

Is there any reason why this wouldn't work?

Was considering trying this.. Dont fancy losing bluetooth, handoff, airdrop though etc .. :/ also may have less channels ?
