I have a 2.8 GHz 16GB 512GB SSD 13" Macbook Pro (Mid-2014). I can get $720 for it. Runs great but starting to run hot on some webpages, it only has 273 Battery Cycles on it. Should I trade in the MacBook Pro for a new MacBook Air with 16GB and 512GB too bring the price down around $1,300 after AppleCare+? I am a graduate student so the MacBook Pro 13" (2018) might be too pricey around $2000. Workload is mostly word, excel, safari, light photo editing in photos, and email. Any input would be appreciated, I'm torn... Thanks.

Not sure you will notice any improvement - your MBP with 16gb memory and 500g ssd storage is still pretty powerful - is the processor an i7?

The new MBA has a higher resolution screen and larger track pad and is thinnner, lighter more portable.

If the new form factor is important and having a new MBA is important at least you should get a decent price for your 2014 with those specs.

It's an Intel Core i5. Thanks for your reply! Yeah, MBA having a larger track pad, new keyboard, and faster read/write speeds for SSD is a plus, but I do love MagSafe and the ports on the 2014 Model.

You could get a 2017 mpb tb for even cheaper and is 10x the laptop that the air is
