I just became the owner of the above mentioned iMac which has 8 gb memory installed, I would like to upgrade memory to 16GB, when I look at Apple specs it says to use 1867MHZ DDR3, when I view the Crucial website it recommends 1867DDR3L, which is low voltage, doing some web research I found one site that said not to use the L version, other sites just offer a explanation of what L is but offers no opinion on mixing DDR3 and DDR3L
Question is can I use the DDR3L ?

The industry standard spec for DDR3L says that it must also operate at DDR3 voltages. So, even if your Mac needs DDR3-noL, you can use DDR3L.

(I suspect that nearly all DDR3 memory produced today is actually DDR3L. By being backwards compatible, there's no reason to produce a version with fewer uses.)
