I have:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

The speakers are blown and I’m interested in opinions on getting them replaced versus buying a new MacBook Pro 16”, probably waiting for the next release.

I also have a 2015 MacBook Air with good speakers, so I’m not in a rush if I decide to wait for the new 16” release.

Aside from the cost in replacing the speakers, I’m wondering if a 2015 MacBook Pro will likely have more problems in the near future, making buying new a better idea. In trading off the cost of options, I would not replace the speakers myself, but take the laptop to Apple.

Thanks,

John

Have you looked at iFixit? They offer a guide on how to replace speakers. If you feel you can follow it and have tech knowledge it should be fairly straight forward. Going to Apple is out of the question given your Mac just became obsolete/vintage.

To answer if you need to buy a new Mac, first answer this: Does your current Mac fills your computing needs or are you finding yourself short?

Thanks. I'll check out iFixit. Current Mac is adequate for now.
