i have a really nice example of a mid 2015 macbook pro 15". only problem is the screen is broken from being sat on or probably punched by my girlsfriends little brother. everywhere i look online it seems replacement displays are like 250$. is there anywhere i can look that will have a more reasonable price? cdould i possibly use the screen from a 2011 15" MBP? kinda need something a little faster than the 2008 MB im typing this on... high seirra just isnt compatible enough and this poor thing chugs while watching youtube.

check ifixit teardowns to see if the pinout and cable position are similar, but I really doubt the parts will be compatible.

Behind you!
The mid 2015 model is retina, and the 2011 15” models aren’t. The 2015 doesn’t have an optical drive right, and the 2011 does? They’re a totally different design I’m afraid so 100% won’t work.

From memory, the screens are the same for the the Mid 2012 and Early 2013 models. Then they were tweaked and the Late 2013 and Mid 2014 screens are interchangeable. Sadly the Mid 2015 screens only work with that model.
