Hi,

I have a mid 2015 MacBook Pro that I can get the startup chime and a screen that lights up and shows a lit up with the mac logo on the back lit up but nothing else. I have reset PRAM and SMC. I have tried booting into recovery mode, boot from a USB pressing option on boot, diagnostic mode etc and nothing works. The screen just sits lit up but blank after the start up chime.

Any suggestions on what it may be?

Hi,

Thanks for the response, yes tried both and no luck. Can’t see any images with a torch and nothing displays on external display.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like it may be a logic board issue. If it was a damaged video cable to damaged screen, I would have expected an external display to work.

Simplest solution would be to take it to an Apple store and let them run their diagnostics.

There are various reasons that make the mac system unbootable and you find your mac won’t turn on. However, the issue can be resolved using the below DIY methods:

1. Ensure your mac has a power
2. Check the hardware
3. Perform a power cycle
4. Reset the SMC
5. Reset PRAM/NVRAM
6. Boot in Safe Mode
7. Restore from Recovery Mode
8. Reinstall macOS

Hope this will help!
