sorry chabig is wrong... or at best misinformed.
The good thing about the new 2018 iPad Pro is it uses an industry standard USB-C at USB 3.1 speeds. The bad thing about this is you can get cables that physically connect USB-C to USB-A and will charge and will transfer data, but the cable might be rated at USB 2 speeds (and therefore no faster than the old lightning cable).
All that to say, when buying USB-C cables for an iPad Pro 2018 you don't need anything "approved" by Apple but you do need a cable that states that it transfers at USB 3.1 speeds and that is of adequate quality to actually do what it states.
Only then will you get the 5 Gbps speeds that the 2015 MacBook Pro USB port is capable of. When you get the right cable it will be much faster than any other iOS device currently available.
