Overall, how has your experience been? Has it been dramatically different?

I'm coming up on two years of using my current 12.9", and it's been my favorite Apple product in recent memory. I'm thinking of upgrading to the newer version for the upgraded camera, gold color and some more storage (I currently have 128G; I would get 1256G).

To those that have made a similar upgrade, has it made a big difference in day to day usage?

I don’t have 2015 iPad Pro. But I do have 2017 9.7 iPad and 12.9 inch iPad Pro second generation. With day to day performance, I couldn’t see much difference.

2017 9.7 iPad has A9 processor with first generation iPad Pro has A9X processor. First generation iPad Pro would be slightly faster than 2017 9.7 iPad. Where second generation iPad Pro would be faster than both 9.7 inch iPad and first generation iPad Pro.

For me, the only thing that made me purchase 12.9 inch iPad is the screen size. For everyday tasks, it actually makes no much difference.

I’ve read several upgraders really like it for the better display (wider color gamut?), True Tone, and ProMotion. Personally, the 2nd gen doesn’t really tempt me. I’ve had my 1st gen for about 2 years and I’m still just as content. But I have the 256gb.

I use an iPad Pro 12.9 (A10X), Pro 9.7 (A9X) and Air 2 (A8X) interchangeably and performance for typical tasks is mostly the same on all three.

Mind, I do have ProMotion disabled on the Pro 12.9. After a week with ProMotion, I noticed some perceived lag on the iPad Pro 9.7 and Air 2, and iPhone 7. After I disabled ProMotion, no more issues. :)

I upgraded my 128GB 12.9" 1st gen to a 512GB 12.9" 2nd gen, mostly justified by wanting the additional storage space. I store photos, TV series and have lots of apps. I also wanted the true tone display after having that on my 9.7" pro previously. I was also able to pass on my 1st gen to my then 15yo daughter who was keen to upgrade from an iPad Air 64GB to the larger screen and double her storage space. Admittedly, I also updated my 9.7" pro to a 10.5".
I'm very happy with the upgrade, but it's mostly because I could justify it by needing the additional storage space.

I am waiting for this years release before I upgrade mine. I heard should be a good upgrade with a new Apple Pencil coming out with it.

Basically it seems like people aren’t really noticing a usability or performance boost by moving to the 2017 from the 2015. It seems the camera is really the only difference

I upgraded also to the newer 12.9 iPad Pro 256gb for the additional space. Previously had 64gb.

What. How did you disable ProMotion?
