Hi Guys,

Need some advice on this. I am not sure if it is a good idea to get the updated 13 MBPr without the touch bar? Other than the touch ID I am not seeing much advantage. Do you think its worth to future proof in this aspect? I am looking at maxing out the ram instead. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

It really depends what you will do with the laptop, and if a 15W CPU is good for your tasks... The non-touchbar has a bigger battery, so it will have dramatically better battery life (was already reviewed by Arstechnica, and it was around 16 hours for trivial tasks), i.e. it is a 15W vs a 28W CPU.

The MBP w/o the Touch Bar is essentially a low-power MBA. With 2 less ports.

Future-proofing? Both can be kept around for 4-5+ years.

With moderate usage, you're doing fine with 8GB RAM.
