All had been well for some time with OS and applications functioning nominally. Today, after unplugging my sleeping notebook and relocating it, I am seeing weird behavior of the charging icon in the Apple menu. The icon blinks in and out of visibility and shows that the charger is connected but pulling down the info box reveals a "battery not charging" message. A tone beeps synchronously with the blinking icon. As I write this post the machine is upgrading to latest Monterey and a check on battery charge indicates it has been charging. The funkiness previously described appears to be gone as well. I thought it might have been caused by a short in the charging cable or moisture on the connector shorting something out, but had no strong reason to suspect either. Now, with update completing, it seems to have been a problem with recent 12.6.6 update. I think the new smart charging features in the OS, although nominally cool, might be half again too cute and a bit buggy. Will see how 12.6.7 does. Any ideas are appreciated.
